How Benefit Badger makes money

The eligibility check and your report are free, and they will never carry adverts or paid links. Benefit Badger is run by Rabbits Foot Ltd, and this page explains what pays for it.

Where the money comes from

  • Donations. Readers can buy us a coffee (opens in new tab). It is optional and changes nothing about your report.
  • Commission on labelled links. Some of our guides to cutting bills, in Help with bills, and a few benefit and situation pages, include links to companies such as a railcard provider or a mobile network. If you use one and buy something, the company pays us a commission through an affiliate network.

How you can tell

Every commercial panel opens with a label that says Ad and a sentence saying we earn a commission, before the links. Commercial links open in a new tab and are marked as sponsored. They are never styled like the official claim buttons.

What commission cannot change

  • Whether a benefit appears in your report, or where it sits in it. Commercial links never appear in the check or the report.
  • Which links appear on a page. They depend on the page you are reading, never on your answers, your results or anything we know about you.
  • The order of a list. Lists of options are ordered by a stated rule such as official sources first and then alphabetical, and they include free and official options that earn us nothing.
  • What you pay. A commission is paid by the company, not added to your price.

What we will never promote

We do not take payment to promote loans, credit cards, buy-now-pay-later, car finance or pay-monthly phones on credit; debt solutions such as IVAs or debt management plans; insurance; funeral plans or wills; claims-management or fee-charging services that claim benefits for you; gambling, crypto, get-rich-quick offers or paid surveys; or services that sell your details to others. Free debt advice is linked without commission.

How clicks are counted

A commercial link goes through a page on our own site, which adds one to a daily total and sends you on. We store the link, the page it was on and the date. We do not store your IP address, device or any identifier, and we set no cookie and run no script for it. After you leave, the company you reach and the affiliate network may set their own cookies under their own policies. See the cookie policy and privacy policy.
