Benefit Badger processes personal data to provide an eligibility-assistance service. We are the data controller for account data, questionnaire answers and saved reports.
What we collect
- Account data: name, email, hashed password.
- Questionnaire answers needed to apply benefit rules.
- Assessment results linked to your account or an anonymous identifier.
- Technical logs such as IP address for security and rate limiting. We do not put questionnaire answers in application logs.
Why we collect it
Legitimate interests and, where you create an account, contract: to run the eligibility check, save reports, send transactional email, and keep the service secure. Legal basis for special category data (health and disability questions) is explicit consent given when you submit the check.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. Processors may include our hosting provider, Resend for email, and Anthropic if you receive AI-written explanations. Government benefit reference data is stored separately from your answers.
How long we keep it
Anonymous reports are kept so you can reopen them from the same browser. Saved reports stay until you delete them or your account. You can delete your account from the dashboard.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and withdraw consent by deleting a report or account. Contact the site operator to make a request. You can also complain to the ICO.
