The eligibility check is free. There is no paid tier, no adverts, and nothing is held back from people who do not pay. That is not going to change.
Why it needs support
Benefit Badger is a small independent project, not a company with a budget. The costs are hosting, and the work of keeping benefit rules current across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Every night we re-check the official source behind each guide, so that a rule change on GOV.UK, mygov.scot or nidirect does not sit here unnoticed.
It is paid for by the people who find it useful. No department, charity or commercial claims service funds it, and nobody pays to appear in a report. The editorial policy sets out how we source and correct information.
If money is tight, please do not
Many people come here because they are short of money. If that is you, use the check, claim what you are entitled to, and ignore this page. You get exactly the same report either way.

Other ways to help
- Tell someone who might be missing out. Most people who do not claim have simply never been told the benefit exists.
- Report something that looks wrong. Send the page address and the official source it contradicts through the contact page.
Supporting the project does not change your report, move a claim along, or give you a faster answer. Only the relevant government department can decide a claim.
