How to claim

  1. Apply through Social Security Scotland. If you live in Scotland, Carer Support Payment is the usual new claim, not Carer’s Allowance. Use mygov.scot. Official page
  2. Confirm 35 hours of care and a qualifying benefit. The person you care for must get a qualifying disability payment. The official page lists which ones count.
  3. Report earnings and education status honestly. Similar limits to Carer’s Allowance apply. The live rules sit on mygov.scot, not on this page.
  4. Ask about extra Scottish support. Getting Carer Support Payment can open other Scottish help. Social Security Scotland’s pages list what else to check after you apply.
