How to claim

  1. Check you get a qualifying benefit. Scottish Child Payment usually needs Universal Credit, Pension Credit or another qualifying payment as well as a child under 16 living in Scotland. Official page
  2. Apply on mygov.scot if you are not already paid automatically. Some people who already get certain Social Security Scotland payments do not need a separate claim. The official page says who is paid without applying. Official page
  3. Claim for each eligible child. The payment is per child under 16. Keep child details matching what other benefits already hold.
  4. Report when you move or a qualifying benefit stops. Leaving Scotland or losing the qualifying benefit can stop the payment. Use the official change-of-circumstances route.
