A one-off discount on your electricity bill if you get Pension Credit or meet your supplier's low-income criteria. Scotland and Northern Ireland have different schemes.

The amount depends on your circumstances. We do not publish a figure unless it is tied to a tax year and an official source.

How to claim

  1. Read this winter’s GOV.UK rules. Warm Home Discount in England and Wales is often applied automatically if you get Pension Credit and have a participating supplier. Broader low-income groups can depend on the year’s scheme. Official page
  2. Check whether your electricity supplier takes part. Not every supplier is in the scheme. The official page lists how to check. Do not use a random “energy grant” website. Official page
  3. Scotland and Northern Ireland are different. Scotland has had its own Warm Home Discount arrangements; Northern Ireland uses other support. Follow the page for where you live.
  4. If you think you were missed, use the official challenge route. GOV.UK explains what to do if the discount does not appear. Suppliers cannot be contacted through Benefit Badger.
