How to claim

  1. If you live in Scotland, start on mygov.scot. Winter Heating Payment is a Social Security Scotland payment. It is not claimed through the GOV.UK Winter Fuel Payment form. Official page
  2. You may be paid without applying if Social Security Scotland already pays you a qualifying benefit. The official page says who is paid automatically and who still needs to apply.
  3. Keep your address and qualifying-benefit details up to date. A missing postcode or a closed qualifying benefit is a common reason for no payment.
  4. England, Wales and Northern Ireland use other winter schemes. Do not use a Scottish form if you live elsewhere. Follow GOV.UK Winter Fuel Payment and Cold Weather Payment instead.
